How To Make Better Decisions

It is impossible to calculate how many decisions we make in a day, let alone in a lifetime. The need to make a decision will not always present itself in the same way. Though all of the decisions we make are extremely important. Our decisions affect more than just us. For many, decision making is hard and can be overwhelming but what if I told you that there is an easy way to make decisions that have positive effects on your life? Well there is. Keep reading to find out how. 

Maybe it’s A Formula, Maybe it’s Discipline

First let me say that these things are not going to make decision making easy immediately as it will take you some time to perfect it. There are three things that you will need to do in order to effortlessly make positive decisions..

  1. Figure out what is important to you. Knowing what’s important to you can shape your decision making. However, this will only work if you know what is truly important to you. 
  1. Start small. Focus on your daily decisions as they have a lasting effect on your future whether you realize it or not.
  1. Ask yourself these questions. (1) Will this positively or negatively affect my future? (2) Will this pull me closer to achieving my goal or push me further away?

In order to make decisions that will positively affect your future you have to figure out what is important to you as this will shape the way you think about and view things; much like values and morals. Once you have decided on what that is you can start with smaller decisions that you make on a daily basis such as the time you wake up/go to sleep, whether or not to eat out, etc. One night of eating out can definitely push you further away from achieving your goals. The final thing to do is run through the two questions mentioned above. You will need to be completely honest with yourself as all it takes is one irresponsible decision to send you down a downward spiral.

Great decision making is something that takes practice and while you may not always make the best decisions for your life at first, remembering these three things will definitely have you on the right track. You will need discipline and consistency. Eventually great decision making will be as easy as 123 and you won’t even have to think about it. Remember though, it is extremely important to know what you want/what is important to you in order for this formula to work. 

Conclusion

Decision making is an important part of our lives. It is something that we encounter more times than we realize and is a lot harder than it needs to be for most of us. Remembering these three things when you need to make a decision will create a bullet proof formula for great decision making.

Which should I also let you know that my decision making is not even at a 1 okay. I’m at 0 & keep lying to myself about getting better. It’s 3:37AM & instead of being sleep by 11PM…. here I am.
